Election Day is Saturday, May 12. Polls open
at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 pm!
Did you know that in Midway's
last contested School Board election, the trustee elected won by 11 votes! The total number
of votes cast was only 971 out of a district with approximately 7,200 students
and 1,000 employees. Your vote counts!
I'm not sure how that compares elections in Waco and other cities, but I know this: Your impact when you vote in a local election is huge!
The may 12 election is only for city, school board, and other local elections. It is NOT for state representatives or for Primary candidates. Here's who's running. You can still hit the internet and see what you can find!

Here's the best resources I've found so far for finding out about the candidates, polling places, etc
Candidate Forum
You can listen to a Waco candidate forum on NPR. Unfortunately, I can't get it to play on my computer. (Grrr.)
Waco Trib Elections Page -
Includes Candidate List
This is the best resource I've found. You'll have to scroll down past the "Election Headlines" at the top, which are mostly about national candidates. Below that is all the local info: A list of the candidates (which you can see for free) and articles related to local elections (which you have to pay for). It's worth paying a $1.99 fee for a day pass to read the articles if you're not a subscriber.
Waco Elections Page
Once again you have to scroll down for the good stuff. At the bottom and links to a list of candidates and polling places. The top is just info on how to use the voting machines.
