Wanna Hear a Nobel Prize Winning Poet? (At Baylor...This Monday!)

I usually focus on events for kids and families here.  This is not one of those events...but it is worth getting babysitting for (at least if you love poetry).  This monday at 7:00 pm Seamus Heaney, a nobel prize winning poet from Ireland, will be doing a live poetry reading at Baylor  (details here).

You can get a little taste of Seamus Heaney's Poetry here.

Before we get to the giveaway let me tell you a little about  MobileMom.com and their Ovulation Calculator app.  The Ovulation Calculator is an app to help you keep track of your "fertile window"...the time you are most likely to concieve (usually 10 to 18 days after the first day of your period). All you have to do is...
  • Enter the first day of your last menstrual period
  • Enter the length of your menstrual cycle
The Ovulation Calculator instantly determines your 6 most fertile days in the current month and in each of the following 4 to 5 months, giving you a better understanding of your monthly cycle. The results also include the baby’s due date should you happen to conceive during that month.  This would be great for anyone trying to conceive!

My husband and I were lucky in some ways.  Though I had some barriers to conceiving myself, when we first got married we decided to DO NOTHING either to try to conceive or try not to (that changed after our first was born, but at the time it was the right decision...our oldest was born four years later).  We weren't ready for a child, but if we had waited until we were and then had that four year wait (which involved a miscarriage), I can't imagine how frustrating the process of trying to have a baby would have been.   I've known a lot of couples who really struggled with not being able to have a child when they really wanted one.  While their are some circumstances we just can't do anything about, for those that are trying there are some ways to increase the likelihood of getting pregnant and the ConceiveEasy Trying to Conceive Starter Kit can help give them the tools they need in one convenient kit. For more information visit www.conceiveeasy.com.

When you're pregnant it's such a new and special experience...you'll want to write everything down--at least I did.  The pregnancy journal From Pea to Pumpkin provides a place to record your thoughts and memories with easy fill-in prompts.  It has places to keep your utrasound and photos, and  showcases your baby's weekly growth with beautiful watercolor illustrations of fruits and vegetables corresponding to your baby's size.

From Pea to Pumpkin is also providing a Baby K'tan baby carrier as part of the prize package! For more information about their pregnancy journal visit www.peatopumpkin.com.

If your child is at least one year old and over 40 inches the Costco Apt 40RF convertible car seat can be switched to forward facing until your child reaches 43 inches.
